Why am I doing this?
It is 2020 and the world is a strange place right now. We are in the middle of a pandemic, racial injustice war, and a presidential election. Honestly, it is kinda scary right now. I have three things that are keeping me sane: music, herbal medicine, and crafting.
I love music. I really love LIVE music. The communal gatherings of music lovers and the connection over our shared love of a band is unlike anything I have ever experienced. Right now all I have is the memories of past concerts and live performances to tide me over until we can get past the quarantines. Having headphones and speakers around the house is keeping me sane. It also doesn't hurt that my son is a musician. Forgive me now for the shameless plugs that you will see and hear. I'm his biggest fan!
Herbal medication, yeah I know the stigma that cannabis has but folks need to get over it. I legitimately experience pain and anxiety relief since I renewed my fondness for cannabis. I have researched and have learned the many benefits of cannabis use. I am not sitting around all day getting stoned. I usually take a few tokes of a CBD only vape which helps with the arthritis in my hands and knees and the neuropathy in my feet due to diabetes. If I am feeling particularly stressed or anxiety ridden, I can turn to a small cigarette of my favorite sativa strain to ease my brain. At night if I can't sleep I can take a toke of my favorite indica strain, actually any indica strain will do. I have even made my own gummies for this very purpose. I am over 50 years old and no longer care what others think. I have a family history of mental illness and addiction, so I would rather use cannabis than pharmaceuticals. I am responsible in my consumption and have even helped others through what I have learned. Please take your judgement elsewhere.
Finally, I am a jewelry artist and avid paper crafter. I love being creative and sharing my creativity with others. I own two Cricut machines and an undisclosed amount of jewelry and paper supplies, thank you addictive tendencies!
The intent of this blog is to show some of the techniques I use for both of my creative outlets. Paper crafting and jewelry design help me to focus on a project and not the insanity of the goings on in the world. It also gives me the ability to share the items I make with others.
I invite you to enjoy my crafty ramblings and hope that we can learn something together along the way.
